Work with the greatest defilements first

Things like suicide don't come from nowhere.

We are not asking students to be
junior psychologists and counselors —
we are asking them to be connectors,
agents of positive change.

Me coming into a school as the outside expert, presence
it doesn't move the needle.
What moves the needle is their friends.
What moves the needle is young people
leveraging using
the influence that they have.

The study was funded to examine
potential impact on sexual violence.
A cautious interpretation of the evidence suggests
the program may not prevent suicide attempts
among students who have recently experienced
sexual violence —
highlighting the need for additional support
for this high-risk group.

The needle stays where it is until someone decides it was never the right instrument.
