or physically impossible.

They can buy papers.
They can buy citations.
They can appear like become
well-reputed scientists
when they have barely conducted
their own research at all.

The paper mills sell manufacture
basically anything that can be used
to launder a reputation.

A defunct journal,
surreptitiously assumed —
fraudulent science
that appears to be coming
from a legit source.

The name survives. The journal does not.
